Maintenance Duties

NPC is responsible for the maintenance of the village green, The Mires, the churchyard and the cemetery.

East Riding of Yorkshire Council cuts the grass at The Mires and The Green, but otherwise all costs are incurred by NPC. As well as general maintenance, duties include resurfacing eroded paths (such as the one in the Churchyard pictured above), maintaining the beck, protecting the water voles and looking after the trees.

Cllr. Edward Openshaw carries out health and safety inspections on all four sites bi-annually. Based on these, NPC commissions work to ensure that these sites remain well cared for and safe for the public.

The Parish Council owns the Village Hall on behalf of residents. The Village Hall is leased out to the Village Hall Management Committee, which has 100% responsibility and credit for its development and maintenance. You can find out more about the Village Hall on its website www.newbald.com.
