Newbald Parish Council is inviting applications for the post of Clerk and Responsible Officer. This is a part-time post of 15 hours per week, with the possibility of additional hours if required, by agreement with the Council. The Clerk works mainly from home, with flexible hours of work except for attendance at evening Council meetings (held on the first or second Monday of each calendar month), and informal meetings in the parish on council business. Office equipment is provided.
Duties include managing the Council’s administration and the services it provides for parishioners, liaising with East Riding of Yorkshire Council, servicing council meetings, advising councillors, undertaking research, and fulfilling the statutory role of Responsible Financial Officer. The Clerk has the responsibility to fulfil the decisions of the Council, which vary in nature. In addition, the Clerk creates four newsletters per year and manages the Council’s social media accounts and website. Other significant duties include administering the Council’s cemetery and the Sober Hill Wind Farm Community Benefit Fund.
Prior relevant experience is strongly preferred. The starting salary will be £15.37 per hour, which will be reviewed annually. A pension will be provided through the East Riding Pension Fund.
