A Major U-Turn Sees Full Planning Permission Granted for Pig Facility

Despite our best efforts, and after initially turning it down, ERYC has granted permission for the proposed pig farm down Cliffe Road to go ahead.

While we normally support rural businesses, we consider this development to be inappropriate. It will be detrimental to the environment, wildlife, residential amenity, existing businesses and the highway.

About 100 people objected to this development.

Granting this application is totally at odds with ERYC’s bid to have our region declared a national ‘Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty’. It also does not fit with the Government’s drive to reduce greenhouse gases and protect the environment.

One resident is pursuing a judicial review to challenge ERYC’s handling of the case. Her legal arguments are strong. We fully support her.
