Fight Flooding & Sewage We need your help!

As part of our work to reduce flooding risk in the village, we invite residents to attend a meeting to discuss your main concerns and the key issues you have noticed when water levels have been high.

We would like to paint a detailed picture of the issues facing Newbald with a view to creating a very specific plan to combat flooding and sewage leaks.

The meeting will be chaired by West Wolds Slow The Flow, a partnership which aims to reduce flooding in the West Wolds villages using nature-based solutions.

Please come along and have your say on Thursday 9th September from 7.30 to 9pm in Newbald Village Hall.

Due to Covid restrictions, it is important that we monitor how many people plan to attend. Please register on eventbrite via this link https://npc1.eventbrite.co.uk.  Alternatively, email [email protected] or call 07814240033.

Yorkshire Water has committed to spend £400k lining the sewers in Newbald this Autumn. This should stop groundwater overloading the sewers in key locations, thus helping to prevent the sewage floods that residents have had to endure.

ERYC has also committed to replacing some of the drains under the Mires with more effective, higher capacity ones, which will also make a difference.

Yorkshire Water is carrying out CCTV work in the village’s sewers to see if there are any blockages that may be exacerbating the sewage situation.

We really hope that all these measures will mean that this coming winter is much better for Newbald than the last one.
